I think that McDonald’s coffee cup is a brilliant piece of interaction and service design.
There is a seal on the lid. I’m often running for a train and a bus, and the last thing I wan’t is a big brown stain on my grey chinos before a big meeting!

The cup is double-walled and has an air cavity. Keeps the coffee hot and my hands cool.

A loyalty card is built into every cup. They’re thinking about your future relationship with their business, and know you’ll appreciate the gesture.

The proof of purchase stamp is attached to to cup. The service designers have been at this one. Forgot to ask for a loyalty card stamp? You won’t miss out.

Throw in the price (£1.09) and the fact that it’s ‘just drinkable’ and it’s a no-brainer for me. Thank you to the team of expensive service and product designers who built this cup.
